We are looking for poems and/or artwork of any theme. Please submit between 10-16 pages of poetry or artwork or a combination of both (included in the page count are any acknowledgements pages [when appropriate], table of contents, etc.). We encourage new, emerging, and established writers and/or artists to submit to the contest, whether or not they have submitted to These Fragile Lilacs previously. Collaborations are welcome, as are simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if the chapbook is accepted elsewhere. Multiple submissions are allowed, but each chapbook must be submitted individually with a separate reading fee. Translations and submissions not in the English language will not be considered.
Submit a collection of works (written, visual, or both) between 10-16 pages long with the title and page number clearly on the bottom left-hand-side of each page. Include a separate cover page with the title and your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Each piece will be read anonymously, and the cover page will only be referred to after the piece has been thoroughly reviewed. Because each chapbook will be considered for its own merit, no biography is needed; we are not concerned with how much or how little you have already published. While individual poems or pieces of art in the manuscript can be previously published, the manuscript as a whole should be unpublished.
All entries must be received by 11:59 pm on April 30th, 2018. When we have received your submission, you will receive an email indicating that we have received it.
There is a $12 reading fee for this competition. Please submit your chapbook and cover page by attaching them to an email and sending to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate in the subject of the email that you are submitting to the chapbook contest and that you have paid the reading fee. To submit the reading fee, please click Buy Now below.
